Sanity or Patience: choose one.

Do you ever have one of those moments where you think, "HA! I am sane!" Then you step in dog poo with your bare feet and remember it was your idea to get the puppy...?

Bad Mommy Weekly: Bad Aunt-A edition

My son isn't usually a drama queen. He rams his head into walls and spills himself down flights of stairs, usually jumping back up with a quick "I'm okay!" He isn't afraid of spiders and doesn't mind when the dog jumps on his belly or licks his face. He's even hard to discipline at times because he just doesn't care about having a toy taken away (unless I put it in the garbage) or having to sit in time out (unless I start the timer).

There are very few things that I know for sure will upset him. Every time. One of them is water. One minute drop or splash anywhere on his face, and the kid could take Kim Basinger's spot as Vicki Vale. It's ear-splitting. When he first learned to stand, he went a good six months where he refused to sit in the bath. He would only stand. He's four now and still will not lay down in the tub. Needless to say, rinsing shampoo out of his hair has always been quite the chore.

When I put my niece in the tub with him this afternoon and accidentally spilled a stream of water down her face, I froze with the anxiety of what was to come. Aaaannnnddd.... nothing. She didn't care. It was amazing. Shocking, even. So much so, that I did it again - on purpose. Still, nothing. Seriously? If I tell this girl she can't put her sucker in dog poo, she could beat out any celebrity on the planet for "best scream" if there were an academy award for such a thing, but water in her face doesn't phase her? I dumped an entire bucket of water over her head, just to see it again. Still nothing! She just... kept playing. Yes, I'm a bad Aunt-A weekly, too.

Sister, I promise, I wasn't trying to drown her. I love her!

Haha, that poor kid. Probably traumatized that her Auntie was trying to drown her now. But I have to admit, I would've tried it again as well. Several times.

that was one piece of my advice my sister gave me that i am so glad she did - from infancy i dumped cups over water over my kid's heads in the bathtub and they are now both water babies to the extreme - no fear and they love it! she learned from her first daughter, who was a carbon copy of your son, so she warned me and i'm glad i heeded her advice - she is my LITTLE sister, so ya know, sometimes it's hard! found you from peeling an orange with a screwdriver and now following!

My step son was like your son when he was little, I thought it was the strangest thing. I didn't get him until he was three, so the water thing, I had no idea. I was bathing him and my son who is a year younger together, and when the water hit his face you would've thought I was pulling his fingernails out! After that, the hubs was in charge of bathing him. Yikes! Feel for ya!

How do you rinse the shampoo out? How do you get the shampoo in in the first place? I feel for you girl... all of mine were water babies.

I too am guilty of being a bad at times. Though I've never tried to "drown" my niece and nephew, they have been know to fall down the steps a time or two under my watch. Oh yeah and there have been busted lips and swollen eyes, but they are still alive. I can't believe your poured a bucket over her head. LOL!

LOL...my daughter is the same way with water. Our nightly baths always consist of some glass-shattering screams. We've just gotten used to it. Our son, on the other hand, he loves to stand in the shower, with the water just flowing on his head. I have to tell him it is time to get out!
