The real reason I haven't read Twilight

I am a book freak. Obsessions come easily to me. Harry Potter, for instance, was an addiction, the first 6 books being released before Monsoon came along (you are free to poke fun, but I still love those books). When the last book came out, I had to re-read all 6 books to refresh my memory and enjoy the 7th and last book to the fullest extent. Poor Monsoon... he was neglected for an entire week before the release and an entire weekend afterward. I mean neglected like I might have forgotten to take him home with me when I left my parents house one day. I just can't pick up another side-tracking habit right now... can't do that to the boy.

I'm a HUGE HP fan! I was obsessed, too. I miss them. Like, in an odd physical way! LOL! I don't think you would have to worry about that with Twilight because from what I've heard they aren't very well written and that was part of what really drew me in with HP. They are just phenomenal books. I'm not reading the Twilight series, just not interested. I'll just watch Buffy reruns for my vamp fix! LOL!

No poking fun here! I LOVE Harry Potter! I don't blame you, though. Obsessive book series reading takes a lot out of you!

Absolutely no comparison with Twilight to Harry Potter. HP is a literary phenomenon. Not only were her ideas fantastic and unique but her writing style just flowed beautifully. Twilight on the other hand, was just kind of fluff. Now, she had a good idea in mind with these books, but the execution sucked. If they were written by someone else (a better writer) then I think I could have loved them. I only read them to see what the hype was about, and the writing did in fact get better with each book. But I still don't understand why everyone is so obsessed about it. If you want to read some brilliant Vampire novels the only way to go is with Ann Rice's Vampire Chronicles.

P.S. Thanks for being a blogger who talks about books by the way! hee hee

Then don't go anywhere near The Rangers Apprentice. I liked it better than Twilight.

Being the PROUD Harry Potter dork that I am I can get this. I didn't read Twilight at first because I felt like that would diminish my HP cred. Yeah, I need a life. See with 4 kids you have to pick your... um.. passions (not trying to be punny there). It has to be something you can squeeze into the 7.8 minutes you get to yourself every 3 days. I only had #1 when the first HP book came out. I rationalized that I was reading to see if it would be good for him. By the time I had PRE-ORDERED The Deathly Hallows I knew, that like my Star Trek afinity, I had 'issues' with HP. I only read Twilight when offered a chance to be in a test audience for the movies. I figured I'd better read up. Bad idea.. I know have to split my amore between Harry and Edward.. much to the shagrin of the DH.. But I smooth that over by saying.. hey "Edward" is really "Cedric Diggory" so it's not all that much cheating on Harry Potter. OH LORD I need to get a hobby!

I am another Harry Potter fanatic..at first I was hesitant to give the series a try, then my 50-some year old uncle at the time asked me to give the first book a read, and if I liked it, he'd let me borrow the other one he had..(there was only 3 at the time I started to read them)..well, about 4 chapters in, I KNEW I was hooked and I would follow the saga to the end!! I waited breathlessly as the release date of each book was announced and waited in line to grab my copy of the dvd as it was released. (I seriously get irritated in cinemas full of children, so I always wait for the dvd release) But, I think with the new movie coming out in July, I will catch a late seat and once again be enthralled at the wonderful spell that Harry and the gang casts over me!!!

This is why I only read magazines! I get so wrapped up in the book that everything else goes out the window!! I don't know if that's an addictive personality of what, but it drives me bananas!

Glad to know I'm not alone!

I have the first two Twilight books sitting on my counter... waiting for me to read them... but I'm afraid of the same thing!! Also, I'm kind of afraid I'll actually like them...

You see, that's where I come in. I can babysit Monsoon while you read! It's perfect! And I'm very affordable and offer a money back garauntee!

Then good choice in not picking up Twilight! Definitely addicting. Although I read book one and two each in half a day, so it wasn't that time consuming!

If you do decide to read Twilight, you will breeze through them. Doesn't take more than 2 days to read each one, and things will not be neglected. Too much.

I'm with ya, and yes, I own hardcovers of all the Harry Potters. And I've finished the first three books in Twilight in under a week and waiting for that last one to get available at the library. I so know what you mean. And going to bed at 2:30am? On a day I need to get up at 5:40. Not a good idea. Just sayin' :)

I never read the Harry Potter books and I have friends that were so obsessed with them that when I went to see the movie with them they couldn't stop talking about all the key points that weren't in the movie. I have just started reading Twilight because my curiosity got to me this time. Almost everyone I know has raved how good it is. It is the first book of the Book Club my friends and I started this month. One of my friend read the whole book in 2 days. I am barely on chapter 6 but I have been sooo busy. We shoulda started last month...I would have been done in a day.

My friend, why read books when you can blog? :)

To say that I don't read because I am afraid of my addictive nature isn't quite true. Every once in a while, I really do miss reading. The honest truth is that I can't seem to find the energy at the end of the day to keep my eyes open.

Oh, and the part about leaving Monsoon at your parent's house was just plain funny!

I loved HP, too, and Hubs and I used to fight over who got the next book first. I did read Twilight, and ended up reading all of them in one week. I'm sure you can only imagine what my house looked like. And my kids? Wait, I have kids?
