Sanity or Patience: choose one.

Do you ever have one of those moments where you think, "HA! I am sane!" Then you step in dog poo with your bare feet and remember it was your idea to get the puppy...?

I'm going to miss THIS!?

So I wake up around 2 a.m. this morning with a sad sappy country song in my head. You know, the one that goes, "You're gonna miss this..." talking about missing the trials and tribulations of young kids once they're grown.

I don't know why I've got that song (the one bit of line that I know) running through my head and can't get back to sleep.

Then I get a good kick in the eye and realize Monsoon has crept in bed with us and is sleeping with his feet on my pillow. I turn him around, eye throbbing, all the while hearing, "You're gonna miss this...."

Ten minutes later, still trying to get that song out of my head and go back to sleep, Monsoon sits up and whines and I'm all, "Can you breath?!" because it sounds like he's having trouble and he has asthma so I'm freaking out until finally he gets out, "v-v-v-omiiiit."

"You're gonna miss this..."

Whew! He can breath. OH! We have to get out of bed! Quick, grab him, run (or stumble dazedly), don't knock his head- crap, sorry about that - into the hallway - "BLAGH" all over the carpet.

"You're gonna miss this..."

Scrubbing out smelly orange puke at 2:30 in the morning.

"You're gonna miss this...."

Monsoon telling me, "You're such a good Mommy." when I finally make it back to bed, and him patting my face in the dark, where I can just make out the tiny smile on his sweet little face.

I am gonna miss this. Is that weird?

(He was fine after that. I think it was a touch of food poisoning. Not from my cooking.)

Poor Monsoon!! I'm glad he's all better. When my little guy had a stomach bug recently...well, I haven't and am not going to miss it. :)

Kids get sick like that all the time over nothing. It happens. And yes, one day we will probably miss it. Not the cleaning up puke at 2:30 in the morning, but all the other stuff. Some how I think the puke cleaning will be forgotten.

It's a crazy love, from what I understand...so, yes, it totally makes sense!

My daughter was a big barfer when she was little. I always knew if she said her tummy wasn't feeling well before she went to bed that I was in for it! I can't tell you how many times I had to catch vomit in my hands and run for the bathroom! Good Times!

I love that song, it get's me choked up every time. It's hard to drive with tears in my eyes!

Oh, what a little sweetheart. You ARE a good mommy, and he's such a little cutie to say that. Heart melting right now!

I'm not a fan of county, but that song gets me all mushy. And it is strange what we will miss. Sigh. I'm having lots of those "You're gonna miss this" moments lately.

Sorry to hear the vomit was orange, though. Ewww.

I love that song. I always think of my little one. It is going to be sad when she leaves some day. I am happy to hear he is feeling fine.

Reminds me of the time my little on puked in bed....right on his fathers head. All I heard was SPLAT!

Yes, we will miss it. All of it.

Ooooh, poor Monsoon, but how cute is that!

vomiting in the middle of the night FREAKS ME OUT. it's like you have to be on constant alert so that you can leap out of bed at a moments notice and try to save the bedsheets and/or carpet.

andy:)

p.s. glad he's feeling better.

Aww poor guy. Glad to hear he's feeling better. Next step: teach him to head directly to the bathroom THEN call for mommy when he's feeling sick next time ;) This momma doesn't do puke!

And I'm so glad I don't know that song -- nothing popped into my head for the next three days!

Well said my dear. And I'm guessing that oddly enough we will miss it someday.

Oh the puke fests are joyful memories to pack in the vault. Lock it in the time capsule.

But the sweetness of Monsoons comment mitigates everything does it not?

Love that sappy song. Hope Monsoon is feeling better, perky, like himself.

I can't say I'm gonna miss that kind of stuff either. The worst is when they have it at both ends and they aren't sure what to do and where.

I agree with Julia's comment.

Is it sick that I loved this post? Totally cracked me up but I have to admit that is one of the things I do NOT miss.

I will miss the part where I get called a good mommy. I will NOT miss scrubbing puke from my carpets!!
