Sanity or Patience: choose one.

Do you ever have one of those moments where you think, "HA! I am sane!" Then you step in dog poo with your bare feet and remember it was your idea to get the puppy...?

Round Robin: Shirley Maclaine

Some of my favorite childhood memories involve nice restaurants, filet mignon or lobster, and always the staple princess drink: A Shirley Temple. While I still enjoy the cherry flavor in my 7-up, it's a bit too sweet for my grown-up pallet. Plus, I like a kick with my surf-n-turf now and then. So I came up with a low-cavity solution to this fabulous indulgence. I call it a Shirley Maclaine.

Start with a splash of grenadine in your martini glass, add a shot of cherry flavored rum (if you so choose, but it also makes for a fabulous non-alcoholic drink), pour to half full with 7-up, and fill the rest of your glass with club soda, leaving just enough room for a cube or two of ice. No stirring required. If it's still too sweet for you, use only club soda and forget the 7-up.

Enjoy your trip down classy-kid memory lane.
