Sanity or Patience: choose one.

Do you ever have one of those moments where you think, "HA! I am sane!" Then you step in dog poo with your bare feet and remember it was your idea to get the puppy...?

Monday, August 10

Two weeks, one pound down; 8 weeks, 19 pounds to go.

Weighed in tonight at "group therapy w/ grandmas" and, after two weeks of running on schedule, adding extra heavy-duty work-outs, and cutting back on baked goods.... I've lost one of the four pounds I should have.

I suppose substituting cocktails for sweets was bound to sabotage my efforts. Too bad, I was really getting used to them. The two unopened bottles of Bacardi (okay fine, one of them I opened yesterday) are calling my name after tonight's grueling sweat-fest.

The one slice of chocolate cake leftover from Monsoon's birthday party is looking all too good, as well. Do you think I'll be able to carry it all the way from the counter to the garbage can without smashing it into my mouth? I mean, the lid will have to come off... I'll smell it... some of the fudgey icing might slide down my fingers anyway and what's a girl to do with that? If I'm going to lick the worst (calorie-wise) part, I might as well just eat a hunk.

You're right. I'm a liar. I ate half of it while I typed. The gooey frosting-covered keyboard is possibly one of the many things wrong with my laptop. On the bright side, there's another whole week before next weigh-in.

Hello, treadmill, old foe.

Ha! I actually laughed out loud at this...

I have the same issue! For Gods sake I reward myself for being good!

"I have been fabulous all day, therefore that vanilla latte and piece of cake will not even touch my thighs"

ugh.

I so hear your pain. I feel like when I work extra hard I deserve a nice little treat. However, I go beyond "little" which just ruins all my hard work. The worst part is that I tell myself "There's always tomorrow." Yeah, nice mentality.

Love it! I had a grueling workout tonight, fixed a veggie & beef dinner (no sugar, no grains, no dairy) and wouldn't you know the hubs brings home chocolate chip coconut cookies baked by a band parent. curses!!!

You rock my dear, a few cocktails never killed anyone right? ha-ha

Thanks my dear you're the only one that caught on to the ironic size comment!

I think you're doing great. I know you've heard it before, but muscle weighs more than fat. And running creates muscles. So go eat more cake! ha!

Give your body some time. It will adjust to the new demands you are putting on it. At least you are trying and that i smore than I can say for myself.

I'm with Christy...muscle weighs more than fat. If you're exercising and getting more fit, the pounds will soon come off. (even if you need a bit 'o cake now and then to keep you from going nuts!).

I never win against birthday cake either. And I just had this same crisis happen, um, yesterday.

did you read that Time mag article surmising that exercise does not help weightloss - I'd say that would be a handy excuse right about now :D
