Monsoon was a bit of an emotional mess most of today - lack of sleep, busy schedules and time away from home in the last 3 days. He kept bursting into tears at the smallest things. Trying to wind down a bit, we read some books, but then he broke down again while I held him tight, and we laid down on the couch together for a quick rest before dinner. I have no idea where this came from, but he had been acting all day like something was weighing on his mind, and this was the conversation he started:
Monsoon: "What if there were no people on Earf?" (Earth).
Me: "Where would all the people be?"
Him: "With God."
Me: (caught off guard) "Well, then that's what would happen."
Him: "But I don't want you to go with God."
Me: "Why not?"
Him: "I will miss you."
Me: "Yes, but we will all be with God together." (still haven't quite regained composure from the sudden topic of interest)
Him: "But I will be all alone if I go with God."
Me: "Honey Pot, you will never be lonely when you go with God."
Him: "But what if he forgets you and daddy?"
Me: "God never forgets, Honey Pot."
Him: "People forget?"
Me: "Yes, people forget."
He just seemed so... burdened. You may not find it as endearing as I did, but I felt compelled to post it. I have no idea where it came from or what he was thinking exactly.

The mind of a child fascinates me. I hope Monsoon felt better after your talk. Such a heavy topic to be on his little mind.
That's a lot of heavy stuff on a little mind.
What a beautiful moment. It seems like little ones who can't quite get their mind around things seem to get so much more burdended than adults, don't they? You just want to smooth it all out for them, but you know you can't until they're old enough to piece it all together. Poor little thing.
It's really interesting what little minds think of, and what comes out.
They pick up on more things than we think... so I bet he did sense something was going on. Hope he sleeps well tonight, gets lots of rest, and doesn't let the worries of the world get to him for another day or two :)
Who knows? Maybe he saw something on TV. I'm glad you posted this though. This actually brought a tear to my eye. Kids are so honest and innocent. I love what you said to him.
We have those types of conversations here too! G is terribly afraid her grandad will die, not that he is sick or anything just that he will.
What an awesome and huge idea for a child to think about! It's so endearing when they come to us with these questions.
