Sanity or Patience: choose one.

Do you ever have one of those moments where you think, "HA! I am sane!" Then you step in dog poo with your bare feet and remember it was your idea to get the puppy...?

Bad Mommy Weekly, issue 2

Yep, I was a bad mommy again this week. Only this week, my son's preschool teacher was privy to my horrendous un-motherly skillzzz. She called me for a reference, we chatted, and I got distracted for a brief moment before noticing how wild Monsoon was getting with the "activity" to which I had left him.

"Honey Pot, if you continue to wave it around like that, I'm going to have to take away your knife."

I would have explained about it being a butter knife and, quite frankly, the only thing keeping him busy while I made fresh salsa and prepared for our camping trip was him spending an hour "chopping" tomatoes, but she pretended not to hear me.

Fingers crossed that she assumed it was a toy. Then again, thinking I allow him to be a pretend gansta... that might actually be worse. I'm sure she's looking forward to the upcoming school year.

Upon suggestion from Julia (who also lets her kids play with knives), you can link up if you so choose to publicly display your Bad Mommy status on a weekly basis. C'mon, free yourself!

p.s./update: if you want to participate, don't worry about what day it is - I probably won't be diligent enough to put Bad Mommy Weekly up on the same day every week (because I'm bad) but I will also not put up another post for 2 or 3 days (because I'm bad).

I read somewhere that kids who get to play with knives, fire, scissors, and power tools at a young age are better adjusted in the long while and have high self confidence. Or at least that is what I am choosing to remember and want to believe. You gotta let kids be kids and let them experiment.

ack its Wednesday and I just found you but I'll try to do a bad mommy post next week to share the pain. I have lots of those stories. More every day.

Oh my! lol. I'm sure I heard many similar things as a teacher that I've blocked out ;)

Oh how funny. And I LOVE that you go camping. I'm hoping we get to go sometime this fall - I miss it - haven't been since before having our daughter last year. Do you tent or trailer camp? We tent it.
