Sanity or Patience: choose one.
Do you ever have one of those moments where you think, "HA! I am sane!" Then you step in dog poo with your bare feet and remember it was your idea to get the puppy...?
A while back, soon after we got Monsoon's sleeping-bag-in-a-backpack and our new tent, the boy decided he was going camping. Apparently, this is how he goes camping:
Yep, he's walking out the door with his camping gear, shoes, and... bare
nekkid self. He was completely serious.
Go have more Phriday Photo Phun with Candid Carrie!

My sister and I took a last-minute trip to a fab 80's flashback concert on Wednesday night. If we had decided sooner (maybe an hour beforehand, at the very least) on our plans, we'd have gone all out. And I do mean ALL OUT. Alas, we were late as it was and had not even a moment for hair-teasing. Still, it was so much fun.
Candy driving to the concert:
Poison rocked it, but not nearly long enough.

So many fantastic (sometimes fantastically awful) fashion remakes! We aligned ourselves so that no one would notice us taking photos of strangers (note the center of this pic):

These girls, however, were apparently not fooled at all.

So we just started asking people to pose...

....And eventually jumped into the pics ourselves.

Here I am (ick - sweaty) driving home. I was the DD, but somehow we still ended up Kentucky before realizing we were going the wrong direction.
Does anyone know how awesome my Mom is? Well let me just show you:
Monsoon might have threatened to borrow my new apron.
So I tried to be clever... which does not bode well in any case. Hubby and Monsoon were on their way home from school when I finally found something fun to do for April Fool's Day. I wrestled Sprinkles for the last bits of Sunday's newspaper, taped up a slice of it to the door jam, shoved crumpled funnies on top and crunched the door shut.
Then I waited... camera ready... pre-ejacushot a photo of just the door...
Finally, FINALLY! They arrived... I waited for the exact right moment of "dump & surprise"
Stupid camera. One stinking shot and it fuzzed all up. Pffttt. Ah, well - Monsoon took a few moments to assess the wacki-doo garbage dotting the floor and hanging from the doorway. Yes dear, it's a newspaper. Yes, it's hanging by tape.
He SO does not get how this is funny.
But Sprinkles was excited. Eh, somebody gets me.

Hanging with my Dad.

He was just learning to walk. This is one of my favorite chunky baby pictures.
Pretend Summer wasn't enough. I want the real thing - and a vacation, too. We visited South Carolina last August. Can you see the ocean back there?
This was Monsoon's first EVER visit to the beach.
When we first got here, he stayed back on the dry sand because, "there's sharks in there!" I don't know where he got that, we didn't tell him anything about sharks where we were going. I blame the in-laws.
Last year, Hubby and I took Monsoon hiking at a nature reserve in our little town. Not too far into one of the trails, we found an interesting tree.
There seem to be several words etched into this tree that I can't read, but you can clearly see "Hi Ryan Ashley" in there. Let me tell you, our town is technically a village - very small. There are no other Ryan Ashley's here. I have no idea how long this has been there, but it was quite a strange thing to find.
